You can forgive Wipro for copying the building of NIFT, but after you call yourself a 'design school', the least you can do is come up with your own idea for a campus. As if borrowing the idea for its building were not unfortunate enough, Apparel Training And Design Center is situated right next to the inspiration.
Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated this place in 1997. While an unusual visitor is always welcomed here and well catered to, the silence is rather loud and evident, and there generally appears to be no sign of human habitation. The management says that this is a pre-school for those aspiring to join
NIFT. One can join the places even after his/her tenth grade.
There are about a hundred students. One can train here for the "factory level". The in-house faculty members have specializations in their particular areas of study. People who have never dreamt of designing but want to work under someone to look forward to an assured salary, come here. The ambience is unfortunate, and the very essence of a learning center is lost in the resounding silence of the institute.
Training is given on imported machines based on industrial requirements. Placements are arranged for students, but campus recruitments do not happen. Most of the ex-students work in Bangalore. The institute also has centers in Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkatta, Delhi and Bangalore.
