As a temple architect, I deeply admire the Birla Mandirs for their seamless fusion of tradition and modernity. Built with white marble or sandstone, these temples embody purity and devotion, adhering to Vastu Purush Mandala principles to harmonize with cosmic energies. Each structure features intricate carvings inspired by Shilpa Shastra, depicting deities, scriptures, and floral motifs, ensuring every detail holds spiritual significance. The sanctum sanctorum is meticulously designed to focus divine energy, fostering an intimate connection with the divine. Birla Mandirs are not just places of worship but architectural masterpieces, honoring India’s cultural heritage while inspiring devotion and spiritual harmony.
Of all the people who've been there, perhaps the only one who's not totally impressed by the view from the Birla Mandir at night is perhaps the Lord Himself. Arguably, He's seen better. For the rest of Hyderabad, however, for a very long time, going to the Birla Mandir in the evenings was as much of an outing as it was to be in the good looks of its First Citizen.
