Cafe Odyssey

The Scene
Long before Deli 9 and Ofen had happened to Hyderabad, there existed a place in Punjagutta where you could get some of the best Conti food, outside of the coffee shops of the 5 stars.

Odyssey reeks of personality, and whyever not. It has just the right dollop of the Lower Westside kind of laidbackness and a pinch of the Upper East Side kind of snoot. Here is where you would get to hear an all-male party of four calling out to the waiter by name and placing orders for personalized omlette-breads, which incidentally is not even on the menu. On the other end of the spectrum, the Cafe is also frequented by enough patrons who would recognize their Rosemary from their Marjoram, and politely ask the Chef to hold back on the celery.

The Food
Cafe Odyssey surprises you with its prices, for you can have a deeply gratifying Chicken grill for about Rs. 145, accompanied by garlic bread, vegetables sauteed to perfection, fries and a portion of flavored rice. Their pastas and sandwiches range between Rs. 95 and Rs. 140, while their desserts include mousses and cheesecakes averaging Rs. 70.

The Verdict
Odyssey is a place you would go for the excellently prepared food, the well-stocked bookstore next door, the general untroubled ambience, and the, did we mention this, great food.
