We bought an APC UPS from Sinetech (Maqsood) 2 years back. The reason we went for the expensive APC, and from an authorized dealer, was that we were fed up of low cost stuff bought from unreliable and unprofessional vendors.

Sinetech has turned out to be just the same, despite the premium brand.

We chose not to pay for an AMC (costing Rs. 5,500 per year), choosing instead to pay whenever we had a problem. It is clear Mr. Maqsood now uses that against us. He has told us - that his first priority is new customers, next is those who pay for an AMC, and then, if he has time, other customers.

What he is saying is, there is no guarantee of any support for customers who do not pay him Rs. 5,500 a year for an AMC. Even if they are willing to pay what it costs.

The issue is this. We had bought new batteries (costing Rs. 56,000) last week, and need them calibrated with the UPS unit - that takes about 20 minutes. We have been following up with Mr. Maqsood for 1 week now. These is the experience in the past week:

1. Does not take calls if he knows we are calling - 100% of times (we tried some 20 times in this week)
2. Does not return calls - 100% of times
3. How to get him to take a call - call from a different number each time
4. Tone of friendliness in voice (on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is rude and 10 is very courteous) - usually 4, and in our last conversation, 1 (he curtly told us he was busy, and just cut the call without waiting for us to say anything)

We buy from big brands because they offer strong after-sales support. There is a central helpline, a courteous voice at the other end, a commitment of when the service engineer will visit us, and what the fee will be.

Our experience with our super-expensive APC purchase has been the opposite. We are stuck with an unprofessional vendor who does not commit to a time, who does not take or return calls, and who does not sound eager to please or respectful when talking to customers unless the customer is willing to commit to extra purchases or a fancy AMC (he does not sound particularly enthusiastic or eager-to-please even otherwise, but that is another matter).

If you want to buy an APC UPS, my advice is to try someone else, with better reviews than this.
