I have gone to remit Callan towards ITax payment and I was asked to give a Xerox copy of the challan also. This is the first time I faced this. Then there was lot of delay in handing over the counter foil. After remitting the amount, I waited nearly 15 minutes to get the counterfoil and my offer to come inside and cut the counterfoil myself so that I can save time did not yield any result. The bank has no small change. I could offer Rs.3/- as against Rs.4/- change sought by the cashier, but he returned Rs.5/- expressing that he has no change. Foregoing Rs.1/- by a customer is easier than bank doing something to keep change. On one challan thjey have put no.in redink 1634209 for
Rs.31/- challan Sl.No.00014, but failed to do so on another challan No.00013 for Rs.3,563. I called over phone No 23307576to have the clarification at 3-35P.M but none lifted the phone. Probably it was closed.
