The YWCA is better known for its counselling-center-cum-women's-empowerment cell, rather than for any of its other activities. The center offers all kinds of help for troubled women, both mental and physical. Many women seek it out as a refuge, and therapists and visiting medical doctors do all they can to help them find themselves.
Almost as part of the empowerment programme, YWCA offers many classes, the most popular of these being sewing and embroidery, still seen as a reliable source of income. Their small and ill-equipped auditorium has been known to hold the occasional music recitals, but otherwise there's not much activity on the cultural front. And no song, either. Tragic.
