One outcome of the paucity of decent clubs in town and the near impossibility of becoming a member, has perhaps been the opening of the Jubilee Hills International Club. Opened in 1987 and spread out over roughly 10 acres of land, the club is primarily for residents of the posh Jubilee Hills area. If you stay here, you have to pay merely Rs. 25,000 for becoming a member, but if you stay elsewhere you have to fork out an unprintable Rs. 3 lakhs! But it's still a safe bet considering the raids being conducted on burgeoning clubs sponsoring gambling, and the undesirability of watching illegal dancing girls at bars in the city.
The club boasts of mostly everything - an Olympic-size swimming pool, 5 tennis courts, 3 squash courts, table tennis, indoor badminton courts, 5 top quality billiards and snooker tables, basketball grounds and cricket nets. Other services include card rooms where you can de-addict yourself from teenpath and learn bridge, a stylish and upbeat pub (no smoking), outside lawn service, and a huge terrace where refreshments are served.
The club works on a society kind of concept, with their margin of profit - which shows in the evidence of poor maintenance, overflowing ash trays, unfinished areas, lack of proper vaccum cleaning etc. All said and done, though, this is a good place to spend time.
