What makes public parks in Hyderabad the hottest hangouts for lovey-dovey couples is the hospitality of the park authorities in stretching the closing time from 5pm to 10pm, or may be even 10pm the next day. Kidway Garden is no exception.
Started in 1974 when the city limits burgeoned upto Rajendra Nagar, and a public place for children and adults became imperative, Kidway initially was for children who frequented the park and frolicked over the rides, the see-saws, the slides and all the other games. However, a decade or so later, as soon as the rides and slides vanished (due to lackluster maintenance), young couples took over.
Today, all you can see and hear is the birds flying around the huge Ashokas and Banyans, and the hustle-bustle of the trees and the bushes that arise from the coochie-cooing of lovestruck couples. The cafeteria, although having a sizeable amount of snacks and drinks at your disposal, is empty and unoccupied.
Don't be hassled if you hear the guard's whistle signalling close of day - hand him a pachhaas ki paththi, and you can honeymoon around till early morning.
