If all that talk of hand-churned fresh fruit ice-cream made you think Famous had moved across town, you'd be wrong. But this is the closest you'll get, and MM has a charm all its own.
For one thing, it's a lot better as an eating joint. Especially if you decide to sit at the garden section. The place is quite small, but this doesn't really matter as most people prefer to eat in their cars, or occasionally even on the pavement as they watch the joggers labour by
KBR Park opposite.
MM's ice-creams are also different from the
Famous ones because they're - and this is the best part about the place - served with fresh fruits and a dollop of whipped cream. The Mango Mischief is the best of the lot, and Sitaphal Slurp comes a close second. Melony is another, a special summer treat.
There are also some fancier sundaes, of which it's dangerous to see Apricot & Almond, Apricot Fool and the pastry-based Fairyland Exotica being carried to a neighbouring table. Children mostly prefer the chocolate ice-creams, and for a while MM did not do as well as it deserved to because the tastes took some getting used to. But if you love your fruit uncorrupted and as fresh as it tastes when first sliced, then MM offers a good - if slightly more expensive - alternative to the stalls at Mozamjahi Market.
