Nishumbitha Ballet And Theater Group

Nishumbitha Ballet and Theater Group is simply the most active theater group in town. Right from the moment it was founded in 1995 by Rammohan Holagundi, it has been relentlessly promoting theater in and out of the city. With a strong membership of over 55 artists, both amateur and professional, Nishumbitha has to be the numero uno in dramatics in the city.

Though not as popular as Arvind Mittal's Expressions, Nishumbitha is not short of achievements. It has won almost every award there is to be won, both at the State and national level and has taken part in every competition. Successfully winning at least a single award at every festival it attended, Nishumbitha has drawn into it the best talent of the city by its sheer dedication.

Proactively being part of street plays for national awareness on AIDS and Family Planning, Nishumbitha travels even to juvenile homes to teach the kids dramatics. Language also is no barrier to the group as it plays in all the three principle languages.

Not only just adaptations of famous playwrights, the group also has an almost unlimited supply of its own productions. The most popular among all these is Mera Bharath Mahan, which has already been performed over 30 times all over the country.

The group can of course be condemned for lying low for too long. With these many accolades, it really needs to advertise and market itself properly. Having said that, the next time Nishumbitha plays near you, don't you dare miss it.
