Value For Money
With a pot-bellied usher dressed as an umpire, and waiters sporting team uniforms and menus carved into mini cricket bats, Outswinger cries out its theme in every sense if you're wasted, this place is Lord's. And if you're not, you still are swinging drunk inside an outswinger.
Being one of the first pubs in the city to hitch the booze train, this place has earned its classic status. Traditional pub interiors with booths and a decent collection of imported alcohol have posted the gulp-hole hot on the pub's chart. The silver and gold tequila shots are really a rage here.
Outswinger sells the most draught beer in the state - twenty 50 liter-kegs are sold every week. Not a wonder when you have regulars, each downing 8 pints in an hour. But then, everybody's allowed to have a slow day. We're sure they make up by drinking more the next day.
Outswinger's popularity is balanced on the fact that it knows where to draw the line. Though being a theme-based pub, it does not play music which was created by a Caribbean band or, worse, sung by Saurav Ganguly. As most pubs do, it plays some fantastic and particularly loud music. Wednesdays and Saturdays are rock days while Sundays are hip-hop. On the rest of the days, DJ Harish gets to play whatever he likes. No Hindi music, however.
The boozers here are usually aged between 25 and 40, unless all of them were lying. They are not the dancing types we assume, since there is no dance floor here. Of course, we rule out the possibilities of them wanting to dance with their partners on the bar stools. Or with the bar stools on their partners.
As for the recommendations, try the pub lunch, Master Blaster. The only shortcoming probably of Outswinger is that it's not where the page three crowd hangs out, nor a place that broke stags can hang out. That way it ends up being too costly or too non-happening.
In the end, we give in to the urge and use a cricket pun to capture the essence of outswinger it's chirpy. (Wriggly and even hairy when you're too drunk. That's how crickets are, right?)
