When you walk into Revolutions, everybody at the store blinks at you confused, leaving you feeling the same way. Then it dawns on you that they are not emotionally equipped to handle their very first prospective customer in days. This is also the moment where you stop caring whether you will be thrown out for your scruffy sneakers and torn Jeans. The only word to describe you is - God-sent!
The next thing that hits you about the place is, strangely enough, an overpowering aroma of buttered popcorn. A quick glance over the store leaves you sorely disappointed. The place is filled only with shoes. All 2,500 square feet of it.
Revolutions is the latest bang in the
Prasad's gallery. Talking of bangs, the store also opened with a big one. Models like Neha Dhupia, Jyoti Brahmin, Sayali and 12 others had descended to earth for its launch. They displayed the store's merchandise in 3 fashion shows. Before your imagination starts running amuck, they were not wearing
only shoes.
Revolutions is a retail outlet of Liberty footwear, and you will find everything that Liberty manufactures here. It has opened up 4 other outlets in the country side-by-side. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai being all of them. By the end of 2004, they plan to annexe 17 other cities to their empire.
Sneakers, pumps, mules, sandals, boots, slippers and moccasins, in PUC, rubber, vinyl and leather soles, sit atop the gleaming steel shelves. The ladies footwear range includes Senorita, Tip Top and Gliders, and is priced between Rs. 350 and Rs. 2,500. The Adam range has Coolers, Gliders, Windsor and Fortune, and is priced between Rs. 650 and Rs. 2,500. And the kids range has Footfun and Gliders, and is priced between Rs. 350 and Rs. 1,500.
The store is designed to resemble a fashion studio. And it does. The place is iridiscent with blue and red lights. Mannequins set against brilliantly-hued murals adorn the place. Revolutions also plans on diversifying into belts, bags, watches, sunglasses and artificial jewelry in some time.
All those who have time to kill before the movie is screened at the multiplex, give this place a quick
dekko. And sadly for Revolutions, that's all it might become.
