Opposite this gate is the Sivanand Ashram lane. Take this lane until you hit Sankuri Apartments, then take a left turn until you see municipal house no. 308 to your right. (It is a green house with coconut trees in the compound.)

If it is tradition and long-standing repute you're after, Kuchipudi Nritya Nilayam is just the place. Set up in 1962 when most of the current gurus were not even born, the Nilayam is the legacy of a family that has made it its mission to impart its knowledge and to see dance flourish.

The school was the first to be recognized by the Government of AP, but the recognition brought only a plaque, no shower of gold coins. Classes, therefore, are conducted within the modest home itself. The school currently has only about 15 to 20 hand-picked students, since only serious students are entertai....
