Big Byte Bakers

Another star attraction on the Srinagar Colony Main Road, Big Byte has a dedicated clientele strewn liberally across the neighbouring Banjara Hills. No matter how many swanky new fast food joints come up in between, people are still finding their way to this large bakery that, according to some, serves the best desi burgers in town.

Big Byte is really popular as a hang-out joint, and the crowds are equally divided inside and outside the bakery, at the fruit-juice stall. This is also a good place for birthday supplies, especially cookies, pastries and puffs. But yes, as we mentioned earlier, it's the burgers here that do brisk business, and the Chicken Burger is particularly good. Big Byte's specialty is that it uses extra-extra mayonnaise in each burger. While we wouldn't call this the best place for burgers in town, it's up there in terms of demand.

Other popular munches include the Veg Roll, Manchuria, Chicken Pie and Mutton Puff. Big Byte also has a selection of imported sweets, and its potato chips are fresh and light. The pastries are also as good as they look, and the place has quite a wide selection here. The Black Forest wins hands-down as the most-requested of the lot.

You wouldn't want to experiment too much here, you're better off sticking to the tried-and-tested. The service tends to be curt, but it's quick, so thankfully, the interaction is to the minimum. It's also a fairly spacious place for a bakery, and quite pleasant. You'll find many couples sit and talk the afternoon away over one soft drink. But if they did decide to go the whole hog, they wouldn't be much the poorer for it.
