One Flight Down nearly exploded with a hall full of rock-enthusiasts screaming their throats away to that very familiar song, "Another Brick in the Wall 2". That evening, 7-Sigma served the audience a catalogue of classic rock songs ranging from The Doors to Steppenwolfe. Certainly a perfect rendition.
7-Sigma's origins take place in the portals of Satyam-GE's office in Hyderabad. Raja Mallik (guitars) and Suman Kalyan (guitars) worked in the same office and realized they had a passion for good music. They would get together and jam as often as their work schedule would permit. Slowly the word spread that they were ready to hire a drummer and a bassist.
Fade screen to black. Enter Omar and Michael. Omar is an architecture student while Michael works at the book-store
Odyssey at Punjagutta. The common thread of inspiration to all is Jazz-Rock. Every member of the band looks up to the likes of Steely Dan, Rush, Stevie-Ray-Vaughan, Santana and Weather Report.
7-Sigma have performed at various locations in the city including the RASH concert and at
Alankrita. Prod them a bit further on what they believe music is all about, and Omar replies, "We could go on playing in the practice room forever, but because we feel good about the music we play, we do little gigs here and there and share it with the people." In other words, "It was the love of music that brought them all together."
However, they admit that they have to achieve much more before they reach their goal.
Omar also teaches drums, and those interested can contact him at 23319188.
