Synthesis

Synthesis is a small library, claiming nothing more than Rs. 150 for a lifetime of service. The small room has stack over stack of books, often old owing to the long spell that the library has already done since 1991. The collection includes mostly romantic novels, from Sandra Brown and Candice Camp to Catherine O' Neil, Anne Perry and Danielle Steel.

There are also books by Irving Wallace, Arther Valley and Marry Higgins Clark, as well as classics from Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and P G Wodehouse. A shelf is dedicated to the best sellers like Robin Cook, Stephen King and Paulo Coelho.

The proprieter, Vishnu, is knowledgeable and apparently well read, and knows the right people to buy books from (in case you decide to own some). The books at Synthesis can be a little worn-out and faded, but that is a fact best dismissed as a sign of good usage, and a useful indicator of the good mental health of the city. You will also find lots of comics like Tin-Tin, Asterix & Oblix, Archies, Tinkles, and AmarchitraKatha.
