One of the hottest destinations for the competitively-minded youth of town. For decades now, YMCA has been a place that sees college fests, sports competitions, quiz clubs, karate classes, debating fratenities etc. making it a hub of demigod status for kids and youngsters about town. The hostels, of course, are the refuge for the immigrants and the long-duration visitors as they are in every city.
And well, the place does still have something to do with Christians.
YMCAs across the world have gone on to produce some of the most famous sportsmen, and the Y at Narayanaguda has had its share of stars. Mir Khasim Ali for Table Tennis and Mulini Reddy for Volleyball have been Arjuna awardees. Basketball and Volleyball are sports that have been invented in the YMCA and have been stressed upon at Ys all over the world. The Narayanaguda Y has good basketball and volleyball courts, the facilities of which can be utilised with or without a coach. Other sports that are played here are Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Ball Badminton.
Summer sees the hugely popular summer camps for kids here. There are sporting tournaments galore round the year. Overall, the Y at Narayanaguda, as with any other Y, aims to provide people with an outlet for their sport and creative talents.
