A mocktail bar is the last word in sobriety, a place for saints and designated drivers. So to add that essential element of sin, Exclamations first introduced a line of ice creams. Now they're in previously un-
chaated territory with their range of funky
pani puris. Moral of the story: when you try to give people everything they want, you end up with one strange menu.
Exclamations, with its bar stools and very coffee shop decor, has some good things going for it. Tucked away from the bustling Raj Bhavan Road, it's a quiet place enlivened by the occasional gang of boisterous college people from
Villa Marie and around.
Ice creams are definitely the speciality here, and high on the popularity list is the chocolate-overloaded
Khallas. Scoops of chocolate, choco-chips and choco-rocko, served on a slice of chocolate cake and topped generously with chocolate sauce. Not for the faint of heart, this.
Other great sundaes are the very fruity Charlie's Angel, Litchee Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Fig And Almond X-Factor. Of the more expensive mocktails, the best ones are Virgin Sex On The Beach and the delicious Cranberry Frog. But enough Pussy-Footing (another popular drink, by the way), let's get down to the funnest part of Exclamations (coincidentally, also the cheapest) - the
chaat.
Has
pani puri struck you as even vaguely exotic? Well, it can be if you dunk the
puris in Curacao. Other flavors like Grenadine and Cranberry are just as wacked, and totally worth a try. Another rare-in-Hyderabad dish here is the very spicy
Vada Pav.
Check it out, if only to see what the hell they'll come up with next!
