One of the busiest outlets in
Amrutha Mall, Gallerie Raphael has something or the other on at any given point of time. For the most part, there are the sales. One after the other, every month, making you wonder how much money you actually save at them. It's really just a psychological ploy, having a makeshift store where you feel like you're at a sale and getting value for your money. They're all against us.
Salwar and sari sales are by far the most popular, and show off the creations of smaller city-based dress designers. The occasional lingerie sale does surprisingly well, throwing up many questions about the Hyderabadi housewife that we are not going to tackle right now. Another big seller is the jewelry exhibition. Customers simply snap up the semi-precious pieces that come from Mumbai, Delhi, even Sri Lanka. Book sales happen here infrequently, mostly by Butterfly Books for children - but good deals on those.
The place has a loyal clientele too, who follow the events quite closely and always visit, no matter how many times they've been to a sale of 'embroidered kurtis and salwars' before.
