Located in a man-made crater halfway between Banjara and Jubilee hills, the Jalagam Vengal Rao park has some of the greenest grass in the city. The pond in the park is also one of the greenest in the city.
A stone walk laced around the pond enables you to walk with aimless purpose and marvel at the general emptiness of greenery and woodiness. There is a play area for the children with various slides that are too short for sliding, and bridges that really don't connect two places of any importance. There is also the cafeteria section with a few arcade games. This seems to be in direct contradiction with the purpose of a park, which is to revel in nature's glory and fall on your face in the pursuit of butterflies.
To monitor and curb the uncontrollable chaos that might ensue from walkers invading the park in the morning, you get a monthly pass. It can be had for a sum of Rs. 45, and entitles you to the whole park for the sole purpose of walking or running around it. The timings for preening your vanity are 5am to 8am.
Given its quiet setting and general appeal, JVR Park would be best enjoyed sitting under a shade with the grass and its minute habitants for company.
Notes by this user: Entering ticket is 5 rupees and they collect extra 5 rupees for parking. Ok now when I and my friend entered in park he took 20 rupes and dint even he gave money back ... What is dis again when vr gng out of he collecting tickets again... Extra money they r not giving back... V need a strict rules over there. Thq
Jalagam means development.I can say he is best CM of Andhrapradesh, Who have united the Telugu speaking people of India.JVR is know for; How purity the Administration should be;jalagam has shown How to give Service to people;but politics is not his cup of Tea.
i love the quietness, serenity of the park. you can see young children playing and some people doing their evening walks and yoga. i have spent many hours sitting in one of the rusty benches penning down my thoughts in my dairy.amidst the city a small place to get away...
Pros: quietness, calmness Cons: dirty near the foodstall
Centrally located, entry through a Majestic entrance from main road and good parking lot for two and four wheelers. But, very poorly maintained.
Lot of improvement required.......to quote some :
Many stray dogs found in the park.
Pathways need tiling.
Lake needs cleaning and filled with water.
To remove damaged boats from the lake.
Pathways to be cleared (trenches to be closed and tiled)
Toilets to be renovated and maintained. They are pathetic and stink nauseatingly
Hope The Commissioner responsible takes notice of this and instructs the officials concerned to attend.
