It takes a bit of resolve to keep yourself from jumping and screaming when you realize you can get 6 MAD magazines for under 50 bucks. If you can tolerate the excitement, and if you've got some spare change, the shopkeeper will also throw in a few other vintage editions of comics like Superman, The Hulk, Green Lantern and good ol' Amar Chitra Katha.
Situated at a walkable distance from the
YMCA crossroads, the matchbox-sized R K library has established its identity as the leading neighbourhood provider of romance novels, magazines, girly books, bestsellers and more. It has perhaps the largest ever collection of Mills And Boons; some readers perch comfortably in the store and read till sundown.
Don't be too disappointed by the impoverished supply of bestsellers; the boys at the shop will hunt down just about any title or author you want from their storage rooms. They have all classics from Oliver Goldsmith to Somerset Maugham, from Thomas Hardy to Ayn Rand, and Umberto Eco for good measure.
The shopowner claims he has a stock of around 3 lakh books in the library. The place doubles as a bookstore, which is why he is in a hurry to dispose off of some of the more ancient titles. Bibliophiles should love burrowing in here.
