If Hyderabad can ever claim to have nurtured a rock scene, then Wreckage can rightfully claim its place as The Band That Could Have Been. Wreckage was eagerly dismissed by many to be just another Maiden-Metallica cover quartet. However, with the passage of time and the slow demise of other bands, Wreckage has evolved to possess a unique sound of its own.
Wreckage was born on 15th August, 2003, after Paul (lead and vocals) teamed up with Victor (drums). They shared the common dream to realize a Metal Band that would "transcend everything from bad attitude to bad haircuts". Old friend Joel stepped in later to provide a helping hand with his amazing guitar riffs.
Joel's expertise helped the band to take their music to unchartered territories and also play some of the more complex metal compositions. Auditioning and trying out various other line-ups, the band narrowed down to Praneeth (vocals). The final slot was filled in by Anoop (Bass) who brought in a sense of completion to the band.
Since late-2003, Wreckage has played more than 10 shows in various places in the twin cities, including the regulars pubs such as
One Flight Down,
Outswinger and Where Else. In July 2004, the death of a close friend came as a hard blow to these young boys, and they played one of their most memorable tribute concerts at the
Blockbuster. In the same year, Wreckage also reached the Hyderabad finals of the MTV and DNA "Campus Rock Idols".
The band's singular influence has always been Megadeth. They believe in a simple ideology to "live an intense life, cover intense bands and create intense music". The first track composed by Wreckage was called "Bleeding Sword", an instrumental that depicted "utmost hope despite extreme anguish", while the second was "Hate! Pride!! Lust!!!"
Though the band hasn't planned a future, they have decided to share time between their individual careers and thrash metal.
Psst? heard on the streets: "Young guys, similar music, but how long?"
