Every once in a while there comes a place that thinks that the defence services have not been given their due share when it comes to facilities. Bhavan's is one of them. It caters to the educational needs of the Armed Forces.

The name of this college holds a challenge. The challenge is to rattle off the entire name in one breath. The students have enough other challenges, however, and so it is referred to as just Bhavan's.

Termed as a party college, Bhavan's is supposed to be a cool place to hang out, with some of the best crowds. Co-education is not a myth, and guys and gals get together for hajaar fun. The college attracts all kinds of crowds - the serious and the super-frivolous, the aunties and the girls, the studs and the duhs, the smart-alecs and the dorks.

There is nothing over-the-top about the library or the infrastructure. The canteen, though, is deadly. The place has three canteens. And some extremely subsidized oily food. On normal days, you wouldn't even glance at it, but for some reason, no day here is a normal one.

The college apparently has a strict rule about attendance. Yeah, if you don't have the required 65%, a gaping Rs. 500 will singe your pocket down to ash.

Bhavan's also has a fest every three years. It is extremely active on the cultural and sporting front. The college organizes several plays and literary readings. Some names from the past read Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, Mahesh Dattani's Tara, and Where There's A Will. Cricket, football and volleyball are the most sought after games here.

The faculty ranks high in commerce. Guest lecturers are roped in to conduct educational seminars and impart training in Yoga. Bhavan's also works actively towards campus placements. Names like Juno, the Taj Group of Hotels, Satyam, GE, Dell and HSBC come in every year to absorb the graduating class.

All in all, Bhavan's is one of your best bets for co-education.
