Lee's Beauty Parlor

Looking at the number of Chinese beauty parlors in town, one would think that beauty was invented in China. Lee's is another beauty parlor that drives this point in. But Lee's is at least a cut above those beauty parlors that claim to be Chinese but are run by Indian women, for it is owned by a Chinese lady, who is assisted by her two Chinese twin daughters.

Now that we are done flattering the place, let's get down to facing reality. Though it is almost 30 years old, with an older branch opposite the Secretariat, Lee's Beauty Parlor is nothing exceptional, and offers all the treatments that any normal beauty parlor would offer you, for very nominal prices.

It has dolphins, Barbie dolls and Laughing Buddhas, all arranged together on a single shelf, with a negligible number of creams and hairsprays thrown in. It has a separate room on another floor of the same building for facials and waxing. And thank the management for that too, for if it didn't, the customers would probably be sitting on bunker seats.

Their most expensive treatment is their Permanent Hair Straightening And Rebinding (with conditioning) for Rs. 2,000 - Rs. 2,500. They also specialize in the Platinum and Pearl facial (Rs. 200 - Rs. 350). On sale in the parlor are also some herbal packs and pimple cure packs.

With nothing to its credit except its years it has survived, Lee's looks like it could do with some more hygiene and better customer care. All you are left with when you leave are the memories of a stench-like-perfume and cold service. Basically this is a parlor you go to if you're in the area, with nothing else to do except long for some pampering, and with absolutely no intentions of throwing away too much money over it.
