Established in 1981, St. Ann's College for Women is one of the most sought-after colleges for girls... and boys. With around 1,900 students in around 25 different departments, you wouldn't be surprised that the college also bags top ranks in the
University exams. Spread around 4 acres, the place has to take great care to make sure that the young ladies inside remain inside. Case in point being an in-house auditorium, a cafeteria, and a stationary shop as well!
Students of St. Ann's are known to be a creative lot with various clubs and extra-curricular activities within the college. One such club is "Dhwani", which was started in January 2003 for BA girl students. Their annual festival AnniFest is held in December, and, needless to say, the invitation is only for girls.
An oft-repeated complaint is the stringent rules and practices adopted by the management. Girls are seen doing the skip-leap-run routine before the campus gates close by 8:30am. Boys, on the other hand, are a strict no-no, but can be found combing their hair and cleaning their sunglasses in and around the college gates. One of the more plausible reasons why the Mehdipatnam bus-stops are always crowded!
