Bollywood is educational. I mean, movies like
Company gave us so much gyan about the underworld, and importantly, made us take pride in the achievements of our countrymen. Who knew Indians controlled such a large chunk of the illegal syndicate?
And as responsible citizens, we have to inform the world of the existence of another syndicate, a nexus, a fraternity, that keeps music new and alive across the globe. DJs from all over have got together to indulge in some insider-trading! But, hush, don't say a word, they rule the discs that you go to.
And that's how DJ Amit gets the dope on what's happening in the international music scene - his buds from UK, US and South Africa (incidentally, all underworld hotspots, but we aren't suggesting anything) keep him in the loop.
Amit started testing the waters of the DJ world while he bunked at Pune, but only as a hobby. Now he rocks Hyd with a vengeance. He ventured out by wowing the college junta at cul-fests, and even as he moved on to other deals, he continues to play mostly to floors packed with young college energy.
Left to himself, he'd play some really cool Tribal House, but he likes to think of himself as the genie of music. Your wish is his command. It takes him an instant to pick up on what the crowd wants, and then he is on a roll! He chills out with some soft rock and classics kinda music, a hot favourite being LRB.
We loved it when he described his tribe as 'a bunch of jokers who live to keep the crowd entertained'. Catch him clowning around at
T2 over the weekends and at OFD on weekdays.
