DJ Murthy

DJ Murthy is your regular Hip-Hop-loving, spiky-haired DJ immersed in a world of music. He is also, however, many things you would never imagine. Armed with an M. Sc. in Environmental Sciences and an MBA besides, Murthy is definitely an odd fish in the DJing community. And despite already being highly overqualified, this scholarly DJ is hoping to soon earn a fellowship and complete his Ph D.

While you're gasping for breath there, a few more interesting facts about Murthy - he is a pucca Hyderabadi, having lived his entire life here. His first love is house music, popular in all the hot tourist spots in Europe and America.

6 years ago, Murthy was a Passport regular, since he loved watching the DJ there handle the starry console. He picked up the basics just by observation and got a break at Passport itself. Someday he hopes to play abroad, where the love for and knowledge of his kind of music runs much deeper.

Self-confessedly not into Hindi music at all, Murthy does not play at private parties or even at pubs where he is not given the freedom to explore new genres. After six years on the circuit during which he's worked with almost every major pub in town, he's finally getting the space he wants at Sparks.
