International Fruit Stall

This place is legendary. Which means that the only reason you'd go looking for it is because past travellers have raved. They've run out of superlatives, and in the end simply assured you that you haven't lived till you've tried the fruit-salad here.

And one must admit International Fruit Stall's pretty damn good. What adds to the general effect is that it's served cold in red matka-bowls. Eco-friendly and hygienic. Not that hygiene is an issue for your average seasoned traveller, but it's still nice to know. The fruits they use are fresh, crisp and just the right stage of ripe. Custard is poured over them, and they're refrigerated so the fruits aren't mashed up and their freshness stays intact. Plus, for that little extra, there is a generous portion of dry-fruits and nuts in each serving.

International Fruit Stall does roaring business, situated as it is in the middle of a bustling shopping area. The little boy who sits outside peeling sweet-limes is kept quite busy. Although there is not much place to sit, the two chairs outside on the footpath are usually occupied with weary shoppers. And not all of them order the specialty of the house.

The juices here are also famous, grape and mosambi being the best of the lot. For a bigger treat try the Strawberry Milkshake or the one with dry-fruits - this one, especially, is in hot demand all times of year.

Since most people prefer to take their juices or salad with them, these are served at your car in disposable containers. The stall isn't visible from the Mehdipatnam main road, and can only be approached through a one-way. For all its popularity, it's very easy to miss. But you'll notice nobody has any trouble finding their way back.
