Kausheyam is Sanskrit for Tussar, or pure Kosa silk. Most people are likely to miss this quaint and unobtrusive store near
Amrutha Mall, even if they are looking for it. Located just off the Thakur Mansion lane, the shop has none of the glitz of its neighbours, the Amrutha and
Babukhan Malls. It does, however, have oodles of charm and the solid assurance of quality.
Kausheyam is a family-run business, where the family looks after not only the retail end but also the manufacturing process. Only handloom products are sold here. The store prefers to stock vegetable-dyed cottons, tussars and silk mixes. The dyes are made by their own workers at Chhatisgarh, and producing a single sari with a natural dye can take up to two months.
Dress material and saris in subtle shades and delightful designs fill the shelves. This store is perfect for those who want the understated elegant look. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and effort going into the production process. And the service is excellent.
