Jewelry is of two kinds: the stuff you can afford, and the stuff you actually want. Roopa Vohra's is slap bang in the middle of category two - beyootiful and insanely expensive. There are things in the world more expensive than the jewelry here. Like a trip to Mars. But we think you'd prefer to gape at the rocks at RV.

Vohra is a Mumbai-based designer whose style leans toward the antique look, so you'll find plenty of oxidised gold and silver, uncut diamonds, and necklaces that look like they belong in the Nizam's museum. In fact, she has a penchant for reviving designs like naqaashi - gold work done on coloured glass. This line of necklaces, pendants and earrings goes by the name of Thewa, and consists of work in oxidised and regular gold.

Another collection that really stands out is the oxidised silver line of chains and earrings, which are big and beautiful, and usually teamed with coral or black beads. Of course, the prices are steep - one look around the store should tell you that. Bangles are conspicuous by their absence, but you'll find some outrageous rings. One chunky amethyst-studded one is tagged at Rs. 57,000.

In short, this one's for times when you want to find something truly exclusive, and the lottery money is weighing heavily on your hand.
