SNIST is perhaps best known for its acadadmic results, and a look around campus will have you convinced. Mostly populated with the amiable but studious sort of youngster, Sreenidhi is one of the top colleges in the list of
JNTU-affiliated engineering institutes. Here you'll find top rankers in the GATE exams, plentiful recruitment, and a couple of high-voltage technical fests every year.
SNIST has a few rather impressive distinctions to be proud of. It was the first among almost 200 other JNTU-affiliated engineering colleges to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation of AICTE. And thanks to the high degree of awareness on campus, SNIST also has the largest membership to national student associations like ISTE and IEEE, in the state. In the year 2000, the college was the first such institution to receive an award from the ISTD (Indian Society for Training and Development) for excellent HRD practices.
On the cultural front, there aren't too many things to get excited about, although the students intend to change all that eventually. The only activity in that area is seen for the annual day celebrations. The college brings out a yearly mag, Srujana, and every Friday debates or elocutions are held on current affairs. SNIST is one of the few colleges with a dress-code in place, which prohibits girls from wearing pants. Rather medieval, what?
Many new and exciting changes are planned with the help of the World Bank loan that Sreenidhi is shortlisted to receive (to the tune of Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 crores) along with 12 other institutions in AP. The change that students look forward to the most: a cooler canteen.
