Judging from its smaller twin, you might expect Ramakrishna 70mm to be a macro version of everything good and the mini of everything bad. It happens to be quite the opposite.

The wait for tickets is unpleasantly cramped between the narrow grilles. The perpetually damp cellar is also a major put-off. The titillating pieces of sculpture are placed here too. In addition, there are fantastic portraits of NTR in various roles. A true homage to the Telugu bidda, the founder of the complex. Ironically enough, though, Telugu movies are never played here.

Ramakrishna has been known as AP's first deluxe theater, and is big and good enough to still be called deluxe. It was built by NTR in his heyday as the numero uno Telugu hero, and he brought class to the movie-watching experience, right down to genuflecting to the Telugu aada paduchu all through - the easiest way to get tickets at the Ramakrishnas is getting your sister or mother into the queues.

The interiors at 70mm are pretty much the same as those at Glitterati - plush seats, ample space and great air-conditioning. I do wish they'd do something about the humidity, though.

Hangers-on from the neighbourhood pool parlor give this place a really bad rep. Also, the serious lack of parking place isn't good for business. The black-ticketeers believe that the 70mm rating is just license for more looting. If only the movies often played here were worth the trouble - several times, they are actually semi-porn. NTR must be squirming in his grave.

The more hyped movies are released here and usually end up down the drain, but it's worth the visit for that occasional gem of a movie.

The theatre was opened in 1965, if I am correct. The first movie released was The Sound of Music. If anyone knows the exact date of opening, I will be glad.

Ramakrishna 70mm looks great after renovation by indra cinemas with nice push back seats and great interiors.Great visual even though they could have been little more bright.I was quite satisfied with the sound while watching kabaali and over all i had a great time at Ramakrishna 70mm.

Watched Great Grand Masti here after its renovation by INDRA CINEMAS ,The interiors, seating and ambience has been improved, the Chandelier hanging on the roof gives the royal feels...coming to audio and visual quality ,visual quality is good (Barco2K), but sound system is a big disappointment dunno why but while songs are being played we can observe a lag in the sound notes and the bass, due to this we cannot enjoy music during the movie...hope the new management takes note of this and rectify it ASAP otherwise it spoils the whole moviegoing experience....my rating will be 7/10....RK35mm managed by Mukta arts is way better in terms of audio visual quality.

Watched BABY at this wonderful theatre yesterday.Wow what a huge screen. Ramakrishna 70mm and santosh 70mm are the pride of our city and all they need is a little bit of renovation and both of them can reach their former glory once again.Picture quality was very good since it is now equipped with 2K projector but it lacked the brightness and this can be achieved by painting the screen to make picture look bright.I request the management of both these theatres to renovate and i am sure all the multiplex audiences will rush back to watching movies in these wonderful theatres once again.
