Red Sun

The sun is blazing yellow as I walk into Red Sun, named possibly after that lovely movie starring Charles Bronson from days gone by. I was mentally imagining Japanese samurai hung all over the walls, and was a little disappointed when all I saw was shelves upon shelves of shirts, shirts and more shirts. From Excalibur, Nature, Mindwear, Legend, Pan America and Live-In to Peter England, Indigo Nation and John Players. Yes, wrong place for picking up Red Sun style samurai.

Getting the martial arts out of mind, I soon find out that the copious store - 1,400 sq. ft. on ground and first - also stocks Jeans and trousers from Lee, Scullers, Killer and Sero. And blazers, casual and formal trousers, kids wear and party wear - which seem to cover almost everything under the red sun. Pretty comprehensive.

The good news is the affordability - prices start from as low as Rs. 245, and reach a high at Rs. 1,295. And full suits can be had for as low as Rs. 1,495. Added credit goes to the very pleasant and polite staff, and the rather handsome young man who you learn is the owner's son, making you fleetingly wish you were much younger and female. The young man enthusiastically tells you the merits of his family store, and you discover that they have a very healthy turnout of regular customers, as also people from far away who have heard of the Red Sun label and possibly seen the movie.

They keep having discount sales, the full details of which can be had from either Nikhil Lalwani or Neeraj Vyas. There is a twin store of the same name in Secunderabad - right opposite Manju. So if you are enthused about making the Lalwanis richer and do not want to come all the way to Kachiguda, you have a good option.

Accessories are also available for guys who have friends' birthdays around the corner. All in all, a store definitely worth a dekko.
