K-Circle is undoubtedly Hyderabad's premier quizzing club. Founded in 1972, KC (as it is called by its members) has its meetings regularly every Friday evening beginning at 6:30pm at their permanent venue -
YMCA Secunderabad. And what would K stand for in K-Circle? To quote from their website, "Today, nobody's sure - and what's more, nobody's bothered! All in keeping with our policy of Nonchalance."
Informal, humorous and entertaining are a few words that would describe K-Circle sessions. In fact, many believe that the reason KC has been running for so long is its simplicity. Cutting all the frills of formalities, the quizzers just can't wait for the questions to start rolling. There are no strict timings to be adhered to except for the quizmasters of the day. Nor is there any form filling for the newcomers or anything more complicated than two syllables. The sole purpose is quality quizzing, and that is what KC delivers.
Many believe quizzing to be a hobby of the select few such as geeks or those gifted with an IQ above the boiling point of Lithium. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case with many here. A long time KC member believes that good quizzing is not only about useless facts and statistics, it is also about applying the information given to you and analyzing that with what you know before-hand. Another KC regular says, "After attending KC for more than a year, you can definitely see a change in how you answer different questions."
Can they answer all the questions they face? Well, not all of them, but they do love taking a guess. The 3 questions provided in the beginning are examples in point.
KC members can gloat over their club endlessly. The list of achievements by their members include participation in Mastermind quizzes, winning accolades across the country and conducting quizzes for various organizations such as the Rotary Club, the Association of Catering Professionals, JTM Mobiles, Gemini TV, Family Planning Association of India and Ministry of Tourism.
However, one single question will definitely see them diving for cover. "How many members from the female community?" The joke goes around and you find yourself a laughing stock. KC has only one girl member. It is tough for anyone to recollect whether there was more than one female member too. So here is fullhyd.com promoting KC and quizzing amongst its vast female readers.
And here are the answers:
A1. Robbie Williams' "Angels"
A2. Michael Jackson
A3. Original names suggested for software that is now known as JAVA!
