Most students who visit GRIET for the first time are completely impressed with the look of the place. It's obvious the management takes great pride in its state-of-the-art labs, well-equipped library and utterly spacious campus. And they take their students seriously as well.

Academics is the sole important theme at GRIET, with most everything else taking a far second place. Much is determined here by how well you score in your tests and how consistent your academic record has been. The electrical department is the most active one in the college, with almost equal enthusiasm on the part of both the students and the faculty.

Volleyball is the most popular college sport among the guys, but the girls prefer throwball any day. The open-air amphitheater plays host to Rhythms, a cultural program held by different departments every semester. This is where students interested in the performing arts have their shot at the spotlight. GRIET also brings out a quarterly college mag called Reflections.

Juniors and seniors enjoy a good rapport, and events like Freshers' Day and Farewell Party are even bigger occasions to party than the occasional cultural fest organized by the authorities. One of the few grouses the students do have at GRIET is that unlike most other engineering colleges, they work a six-day week. Despite it all, there are no unreasonable pressures to deal with, and the average guy on campus is fairly laid-back.
